This is a friendly little tract on the spirit-filled Christian life. More importantly it is a small guide book designed for special use in evangelical outreach. Using the metaphor of the road, or path, to express our passage through life, Johnson takes the reader through four important steps to the abundant life: First, to know Jesus Christ as our personal lord and savior; second, to know God’s covenant with us (our “license” to operate in this new life); third, to know the road map of Scripture; and fourth, to follow the compass of the Holy Spirit.
Although Friends may be uncomfortable at finding several of the steps reduced to apparent formulas, this is a strategic decision on the author’s part to assist in opening the reader to the Holy Spirit’s influence. This is a pamphlet that is best used in personal evangelical outreach, where a mature Christian can walk alongside someone who is lost.
