The coming out parties. It's about that time again to see what progress is being made over at Christian Exodus and the Free State Project. You will recall that Christian Exodus is a plan to move thousands of Christians to South Carolina in order to re-establish Godly, constitutional government. Similarly, the Free State Project is "an agreement among 20,000 pro-liberty activists to move to New Hampshire, where they will exert the fullest practical effort toward the creation of a society in which the maximum role of government is the protection of life, liberty, and property." Both groups are now 2-years old, both began in part through disenchantment with the American system of representative federalism, and both locate their solutions in activism at the state level. Only Christian Exodus has plans to have South Carolina secede from the Union if the group isn't able eventually to effect change in revising democratic principles across the US. 1. On this see these contemporary news reports: "The Free State Turns Two," The Wire, October 5, 2005; and "Christian Exodus has 10-year Goal for State Power," Greenville News, October 16, 2005. ![]() |
