The Great American Swindle

Mission accomplished. This new Rolling Stone article is one you won't be able to put down—I mean you will, of course, but only to rush to the window and scream out loud. I'm not so sure that you can even finish reading it.

"The Great Iraq Swindle" looks like another piece on the incompetence of the Cheney-Bush administration and its minions in the Middle East, but you'll see how the story morphs into a riff on the corporate-privatization of the US government—I mean, if you can finish reading it.

Seven Stories of Iraq

In today's International Herald Tribune (also archived at Common Dreams) seven returning US soldiers and non-commissioned officers deliver their assessment of the conflict in Iraq and the futility of our dangerous military presence there. Their sober assessment is frank and intelligent.
