35 Articles of ImpeachmentYou would think that 35 articles of impeachment against President Bush would be enough to catch the attention of the corporate media, but this is apparently not sensational enough to merit more than a few brief mentions and some cursory notices.
Yesterday Rep Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) spent nearly 5 hours reading his impeachment charge, and today the House Clerk is herself reading this into the Congressional Record. Of course, C-SPAN is covering the deed and has provided a PDF document of the full 35-count resolution. Kucinich's document is a damning indictment of criminal behavior (more high crimes than misdemeanors). These are not simple BJs in the White House lounge. "Article XXIIIViolation of the Posse Comitatus Act" itself manages to take us all the way back to the Declaration of Independence!
According to the news site Raw Story, Rep Robert Wexler (D-FL) has agreed to co-sponsor the Kucinich resolution.
If Congress will not impeach the Cheney-Bush presidency, that will mean not just that we have to wait for the international community to do the work for us (as in War Crimes Tribunal), but also that all Americans are themselves complicit in these crimes.
Constitutional law scholar Jonathan Turley says America's founders "would have been astonished by the absolute passivity, if not the collusion, of the Democrats in protecting President Bush from impeachment."
